Introduction
Hanyu Pinyin is a phonetic system developed by China for the official spoken language of Hanyu. The following picture shows how Hanyu Pinyin phonetic symbols help in indicating the pronunciation of a Chinese Character.
Chinese character (Hanzi) is the writing script of Chinese language. The pronunciation of a Chinese character is called a syllable. Syllables can be transcribed in Hanyu Pinyin phonetic symbols.
Good command of the Hanyu Pinyin phonetic system ensures correct pronunciation and enables computer input of Chinese characters. The following table shows all symbols used in Hanyu Pinyin:
